Eastern Europe Tours
9 organized trips to Eastern Europe: two trips to Romania and Bulgaria; a trip to Romania, Bulgaria and Serbia; two trips to Romania and Hungary; a trip to the former Yugoslavia; two trips to Bulgaria solely, and one trip to Bulgaria and Macedonia. The tours visiting only Romania can be seen in the corresponding category.
Depending on the number of days, your travel preferences, and the places you haven’t visited yet, it will be easy to choose and customize one of the tours in Eastern Europe. The best way to visit Eastern Europe is by car, because it allows for flexibility. First, it’s a matter of selecting the countries and the attractions you want to visit. Second, combine them in a tour that begins and ends in cities with good flight options.

The first two Romania and Bulgaria tours represent an excellent option to visit the most important attractions in both countries. It is recommended to start the trip in Sofia and finish it in Bucharest. In Bulgaria you visit visit: Sofia, the capital; the UNESCO Rila Monastery; Plovdiv – cultural town; and Veliko Tarnovo – “city of the tsars”. And in Romania: Bucharest – the capital, plus Transylvania with Sibiu, Sighișoara, Brasov and the castles. The difference is that the longest tour, of 11 days, also reaches the north of Romania: Bucovina and the Painted Monasteries, the Red Lake and the Bicaz Gorges.
On the other hand, if you prefer a more relaxed trip to Romania and Bulgaria that includes one more destination, we recommend the 13-day Romania, Bulgaria, and Serbia tour. It starts and ends in Bucharest, includes 2 overnights in each capital city: Bucharest, Sofia and Belgrade, and special attractions such as Corvin Castle, in Romania.
However, if you arrive in Budapest – the capital of Hungary, you can easily get to visit Transylvania. In the two Hungary and Romania tours that we propose, you start from Budapest, visit the university town of Szeged, with the option of extending the trip to Serbia, and arrive in Timișoara. Here begins the itinerary through Transylvania that ends in Bucharest, the Romanian capital. The 11-day tour also includes northern Romania.
Within the category, a spectacular and unique tour would be the trip to former Yugoslavia. It is a tour of the Balkans that begins and ends in Belgrade, and runs through: Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovia, Croatia, and Montenegro, with the option of adding Slovenia. A trip to Eastern Europe that we recommend taking in low season.
In the end, we present two Bulgaria tours that allow you to fully discover this country. The 5-day tour starts in Bucharest, the Romanian capital located just 80 km from the border, and includes all must-see attractions of Bulgaria. The 7-day tour includes all these attractions and offers even more. It reaches the Black Sea and reveals important sights: Varna – the “sea capital” and Nessebar – UNESCO city, as well as special ones: The Madara Rider – the symbol of the country, The rock-hewn churches of Ivanovo – UNESCO, and Koprivshitsa – a quaint little village. Last but not least, the 11-day tour includes the full 7-day itinerary through Bulgaria while adding a tour of the beautiful neighboring country: North Macedonia.
