Romania Tours
11 organized trips to Romania: trips to Transylvania and the whole country. Another 5 tours of Romania and Bulgaria, Serbia, Hungary can be seen in the “Eastern Europe Tours” category.
Depending on the number of days and your travel preferences, it will be easy to choose and customize one of the tours in Romania. The best way to visit Romania is by car. A first trip to Romania would have to begin and end in Bucharest: the capital, with essential attractions and the largest airport in the country. Then, in order of importance, the following historical regions should be included: Transylvania, Bucovina, Maramures, and finally Dobrogea (the Danube Delta and the Black Sea Coast).
—
The first six tours in Romania are presented in ascending order by duration and each tour includes, in general, the regions and attractions of the previous tour, while adding even more. They are cultural round trips with city tours, tourist attractions, activities and free time.
On the other hand, if you prefer a more relaxed trip, with fewer stays in hotels and additional activities such as: snack in a Transylvanian village, trekking, thermal baths and wine tasting, the best option would be one of the two programs called “8 days Vacation” that follow.
However, for a second trip to Romania we recommend the tour that starts in Cluj Napoca and can be customized to include the places that hadn’t been visited in a previous trip, for example: the north, the cities of Timișoara and Iași, and many more attractions.
In the end, we present two trips to Romania with a special touch. “8 days of Nature and Culture” is an optimal combination of active tourism (hiking, trekking, cycling routes), different visits, and relaxation. While the “4 days rural Romania” trip is one of the tours in Transylvania, with a focus on rural charm, but without losing sight of the most famous cities: Sibiu, Sighișoara and Brașov. Spend the nights in 3 original and different villages, enjoy nature and local gastronomy, and visit the most iconic castles.

First, the day trip to the castles and Transylvania, in the mountain area. A must do activity in Bucharest during your stay. No doubt, the most efficient way to discover Romania during a tour by car, with tour guide and tickets included (no queue to get them). You reach the Carpathians and visit the Peles Castle – royal residence in Sinaia, Bran Castle – known as Dracula’s castle and, optionally, Brasov – “the Crown city”. Moreover, there is the opportunity to extend this one day trip to 2 days, enjoying more time during the visits and spending the night in the beautiful city of Brasov.
Next, the Bucharest tour is an excellent alternative to the already mainstream free tours. The included transport allows for a complete panoramic visit and during the 4-5 hours of the tour, two important attractions are included: the Village Museum and the Palace of the Parliament. The latter can also be added to the walking tour version that takes about 2 hours. In addition, two other versions of the Bucharest guided tour are offered: the night tour and the different tour.
A second important day trip is “Bucharest Surroundings”. It takes you near the city and introduces you to the mystery of Vlad Dracula’s death by visiting the Snagov Monastery. It also explains the history of the country and of Bucharest through a visit to the Mogosoaia Palace. Both attractions are surrounded by beautiful nature. In the version with Therme, it is possible to enjoy this modern, extensive and highly appreciated wellness center that uses thermal water resources in the area.
On the other hand, you can take advantage of Bucharest’s location to visit a neighbouring country, different from Romania and with a unique heritage. The day trip to Bulgaria is a great opportunity to discover Veliko Tarnovo – “the city of the tsars” and Arbanasi – a beautiful typical village.
At the end, we propose two trips to Romania that you should definitely consider. The 2-day trip to Transylvania includes, in addition to the castles and Brasov, two UNESCO attractions that you shouldn’t miss: the charming city of Sighisoara and the Fortified Church of Prejmer. While the 4-day trip is the perfect Bucharest getaway, with everything included at an affordable price: airport transfers, overnight accommodation, a Bucharest guided tour, and a day trip to the castles and Brasov.

The tours visiting only Romania can be seen in the corresponding category.
Depending on the number of days, your travel preferences, and the places you haven’t visited yet, it will be easy to choose and customize one of the tours in Eastern Europe. The best way to visit Eastern Europe is by car, because it allows for flexibility. First, it’s a matter of selecting the countries and the attractions you want to visit. Second, combine them in a tour that begins and ends in cities with good flight options.

The first two Romania and Bulgaria tours represent an excellent option to visit the most important attractions in both countries. It is recommended to start the trip in Sofia and finish it in Bucharest. In Bulgaria you visit visit: Sofia, the capital; the UNESCO Rila Monastery; Plovdiv – cultural town; and Veliko Tarnovo – “city of the tsars”. And in Romania: Bucharest – the capital, plus Transylvania with Sibiu, Sighișoara, Brasov and the castles. The difference is that the longest tour, of 11 days, also reaches the north of Romania: Bucovina and the Painted Monasteries, the Red Lake and the Bicaz Gorges.
On the other hand, if you prefer a more relaxed trip to Romania and Bulgaria that includes one more destination, we recommend the 13-day Romania, Bulgaria, and Serbia tour. It starts and ends in Bucharest, includes 2 overnights in each capital city: Bucharest, Sofia and Belgrade, and special attractions such as Corvin Castle, in Romania.
However, if you arrive in Budapest – the capital of Hungary, you can easily get to visit Transylvania. In the two Hungary and Romania tours that we propose, you start from Budapest, visit the university town of Szeged, with the option of extending the trip to Serbia, and arrive in Timișoara. Here begins the itinerary through Transylvania that ends in Bucharest, the Romanian capital. The 11-day tour also includes northern Romania.
Within the category, a spectacular and unique tour would be the trip to former Yugoslavia. It is a tour of the Balkans that begins and ends in Belgrade, and runs through: Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovia, Croatia, and Montenegro, with the option of adding Slovenia. A trip to Eastern Europe that we recommend taking in low season.
In the end, we present two Bulgaria tours that allow you to fully discover this country. The 5-day tour starts in Bucharest, the Romanian capital located just 80 km from the border, and includes all must-see attractions of Bulgaria. The 7-day tour includes all these attractions and offers even more. It reaches the Black Sea and reveals important sights: Varna – the “sea capital” and Nessebar – UNESCO city, as well as special ones: The Madara Rider – the symbol of the country, The rock-hewn churches of Ivanovo – UNESCO, and Koprivshitsa – a quaint little village. Last but not least, the 11-day tour includes the full 7-day itinerary through Bulgaria while adding a tour of the beautiful neighboring country: North Macedonia.
